Screening and surveillance checks are provided for all children at regular intervals by Public Health Nurses, Area Medical Officers and GPs with referral onto specialist services if problems are identified. This involves a wide range of professionals from general practice and speech and language therapy to psychology, crossing over to more specialised services for children with very pronounced needs.
