As the Deputy will be aware, heritage functions vested in the Minister with responsibility for Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and functions relating to the Gaeltacht, Irish language and Waterways Ireland vested in the Minister with responsibility for the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs transferred to my Department on 1 May 2011.

My Department is examining relevant commitments in the Programme for Government in relation to the transferred functions and to the functions previously vested in me in relation to Arts and Culture and will be liaising with relevant Departments and bodies in this regard. The Deputy will appreciate that the drawing up of an implementation schedule of the nature referred to by him would be premature at this stage.
