I propose to take Questions Nos. 307 and 333 together.

As Minister for Social Protection I do not have a role in the administration of individual cases in regard to the operation of the Community Employment programme. The administration of individual cases under Community Employment is a day-to-day matter for FÁS as part of its responsibility under the Labour Services Act 1987 as amended by Part 3 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010.

The qualifying criteria for participation on Tús requires that an individual be continuously unemployed for at least 12 months and "signing on" on a full-time basis; and

· Be in receipt of a jobseeker's payment (jobseeker's benefit or jobseeker's allowance) from the Department for at least 12 months;

and

· Be currently in receipt of jobseeker's allowance.

Unemployed people who are eligible for participation on Tús will be identified and contacted by their local social welfare office and offered the opportunity to participate. As there are limited places available, not all eligible unemployed people who meet the above criteria will be contacted.
