The capital allocation of the Office of Public Works is expended upon flood relief works, purchase of sites and buildings, certain grants and building construction projects. The advancement of capital works over the next five to ten years, particularly construction projects, is dependant upon the availability of funding each year and prioritisation of projects by the various client Departments and Agencies served by OPW, eg An Garda Siochana, Revenue Commissioners, various Government Departments, etc. It is not possible to predict at this point what level of funding will be available and therefore not possible to provide a list of projects to be undertaken in the timeframes stated. OPW also undertakes capital works for certain State Agencies on a repayment basis, eg Courts Service, Prison Service, Coastguard Service. Predicting the advancement of projects for these bodies is subject to similar considerations.
