It is government policy for some years now that the use of Married Quarters should be discontinued in a managed and orderly fashion. A limited number of Married Quarters are still occupied by serving members of the Permanent Defence Force. The family in question were asked to vacate their house on safety grounds following an examination by the Military Area Engineer Officer, who deemed the house unsafe due to hazardous electrical wiring. An arrangement was made by the local military authorities in the Curragh with Kildare County Council to temporarily house the family in the area.

There are no other suitable properties within the Curragh Camp to house this family. Due to the stated policy of discontinuing the provision of such quarters it is not possible to fund the provision of new accommodation. I understand that the person concerned has been in contact with Kildare county Council regarding his accommodation needs.
