Question 366: To ask the Minister for Social Protection the number of applications for contributory State pension refused on the grounds of insufficient contributions or other criteria in the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3811/11]

According to the Department's records at 31st December 2010, 3,784 customers had a claim for State pension (contributory) disallowed during 2010. However, it should be noted that some of these applicants may qualify for pension following further examination of their claims using other qualifying criteria.
