I am informed by the Garda authorities that the personnel strength of each of the ranks referred to by the Deputy, as at 31 December 1999 - 2009, and 30 September 2010, the latest date for which figures are readily available, is set out in the table below. I am further informed that as of 10 December 2010, 2 Chief Superintendents, 9 Superintendents and 9 Inspectors have either retired or declared their intention to retire between 1 October 2010 and 31 December 2010.
