The 10% reduction announced in the Budget will apply to new entrant public servants with effect from 1 January 2011. Detailed guidelines on the implementation of this measure that will issue shortly, will provide that public servants who leave and subsequently re-enter the public service after a short break in service will not be considered new entrants.
