Question 138: To ask the Minister for Social Protection the number of external reports and reviews commissioned by State agencies and boards under his remit in 2008, 2009 and to date in 2010; if he will name each report and review; the spending on external reports and reviews in each of those years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The three statutory bodies operating under the aegis of the Department are the Pensions Board, the Citizens Information Board and the Social Welfare Tribunal. In addition the Pensions Ombudsman comes under the remit of the Department. On 1 July 2009, the Combat Poverty Agency integrated with the Office for Social Inclusion within this Department to form the Social Inclusion Division. From 1 May 2010, responsibility for the Social Inclusion Division transferred to the Department of Community, Equality & Gaeltacht Affairs. Responsibility for the Family Support Agency also transferred to the Department of Community, Equality & Gaeltacht Affairs on 1 May 2010 and the position regarding that agency will be included in that Department's reply.

There were no external reports/ reviews commissioned since 2008 by the Pensions Board, the Pensions Ombudsman or the Social Welfare Tribunal. The details of reports commissioned in respect of the Citizens Information Board are contained in the attached Table. The relevant details for the Combat Poverty Agency are currently being compiled and will be made available to the Deputy as soon as possible.
