Question 115: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills if her attention has been drawn to the fact that one section of flat roof and the entire main A-roof of a school (details supplied) in County Kerry is leaking severely; that the A-roof has an asbestos slate covering which is brittle, in poor condition and poses a serious health and safety risk for staff and pupils; if she will sanction this school's application for an emergency works grant for remedial works on the roof of the premises; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Funding for Emergency Works are made available to those schools most in need of resources as a result of unforeseen emergencies of a capital nature that may arise during the school year.

The school referred to by the Deputy has submitted an application for funding under this scheme to my Department and this application is being assessed. A decision will issue to the school as soon as possible.
