Question 127: To ask the Minister for Finance the way it was determined that a refund to the extent of €22,000 as determined by their tax consultant who is completely familiar with such matters has been reduced to a refund of €530 in view of the fact that all allowances sought were in accordance with regulations and that the determination as proposed has a knock-on effect of creating serious hardship in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that they are unable to comment on an agent's view of expected refund due. However following a Revenue Audit, deductions incorrectly claimed in arriving at Case 1 Profit have been withdrawn and the net result is a refund of €509.53. This will be refunded as soon as the proposed settlement is agreed by taxpayer.
