Question 497: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government when he will appoint the new board for Limerick Regeneration amalgamating the two bodies; if secondary legislation is necessary; if there will be community representatives on the board; if so, the way they will be appointed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have indicated to Government my intention to amalgamate the Limerick Northside and Limerick Southside Regeneration Agencies into a single Agency with a smaller reconstituted board of directors. This will be placed on a legislative basis under the Local Government (Corporate Bodies) (Amendment) Bill 2010.
I am particularly concerned to ensure that this new Board will include local political representation and that the board will comprise an appropriate mix of skills and expertise to be in a position to provide oversight, strategic direction and accountability for the Agency's work programme.
