Question 128: To ask the Taoiseach if he will provide details of the number of civil servants in his Department who are e-working; his plans to increase the number of civil servants availing of e-working; if he will provide details of the numbers of civil servants he hopes to have e-working by end 2013; and if he will make a statement on the matter. While no staff in my Department are currently e-working on a full-time or part-time basis, 53 have blackberries, laptops or remote access. The Department will review the potential for further use of e-working in the light of the Public Service Agreement 2010-2014.
On the wider issues, the Smarter Travel Plan 2009-2020 recognises that flexible and e-working policies can contribute to reducing the need to travel and to achieving modal shift. I understand that the Minister for Transport has set up an interdepartmental working group to draft an action plan to deliver on this commitment.
