Question 101: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if arrangements are in place for the commencement of the sale of local authority apartments under the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009; when tenants will be in a position to buy their homes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Preparatory work is underway to bring Part 4 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009, which provides for tenant purchase of apartments in designated local authority complexes, into operation. I expect to make the necessary statutory instruments early in 2011 to enable the apartments sales scheme to be introduced as quickly as possible thereafter.
