Question 114: To ask the Minister for Transport the number of employees within his Department, male and female, who have been approved for participation in the civil service flexible working scheme; the number of employees, male and female, who have been refused leave to participate in the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department currently has 78 employees participating in the Civil Service worksharing scheme, 5 male and 73 female employees. The Department does not keep records of any employee who has been refused leave to participate in the scheme, as applications must be approved at divisional level initially before they are sent to Human Resources Division for approval. My Department makes all reasonable efforts to accommodate requests from staff who apply to participate in the scheme subject to the principle that the operating requirements of the Department are not adversely affected.
