At week-ending 24 September 2010, there were 10,427 customers in receipt of farm assist. There were 2,829* new farm assist claims registered in 2009 and 2,022* to date in 2010. * It is not possible to state, with complete accuracy, the number of farm assist applications received as the Department's payment system includes farm assist as a sub-category of a jobseeker's allowance claim. This sub-category may not always be entered on the system on the day that the claim is made, but would be subsequently updated by the deciding officer at the time of decision.
