Question 1752: To ask the Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs the amount his Department spent in each of the last three years and in the first six months of this year on mobile phone bills; the number of staff within the Department who have mobile phones paid by the Department; the mobile phone operator that has the contract for supplying this service; the tender, if any, that applies to the service being provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I wish to advise the Deputy that my Department currently has a contract with Vodafone for the provision of mobile phone services. This contract was awarded under the Department of Finance Mobile Phone Framework Agreement. The number of official mobile phones/blackberry devices currently issued by my Department is 109. The cost of these devices (including modems) for the periods referred to by the Deputy is set out in the table below.
