Question 1407: To ask the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport if she will communicate with the Special European Union Programmes Body regarding an application for funding in respect of a project (details supplied); his views on the role of the project in the context of tourism in north Ulster on both sides of the border; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I understand that, in relation to the evaluation and selection of projects, the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) is bound to follow the structures and processes set out in the Operational Programme, as approved by the European Commission, which provides 75% funding for the entire INTERREG IVA Programme. This process includes an appeals mechanism. I understand that the SEUPB is open to discuss the application process and funding opportunities with any eligible applicant. It would not be appropriate for me to communicate with the SEUPB in the exercise of their independent functions.
