I do not have a role in the administration of individual cases in FÁS. The case referred to by the Deputy is a day-to-day matter for FÁS as part of its responsibilities under the Labour Services Act, 1987 as amended.

Question 305: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills the procedure in place for the payment of training allowance to persons accepted on FÁS training courses who are entitled to a qualifying social welfare payment from before the start date of the course but where the social welfare payments do not actually commence until after the FÁS course has been completed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Where persons are entitled to a social welfare payment from before the start of a FÁS training course but their eligibility is not determined until after they have completed the course, a retrospective payment of the training allowance for the duration of the training course will be made.
