The provision of educational services for children in the care of the HSE is planned and delivered on an individual case basis subject to the care planning process. Educational services are provided at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels with the cooperation of the Department of Education and Skills and with the Vocational Education Committees. Schools are also established at a number of residential facilities across the country.
The Government's Implementation Plan for the recommendations of the Report of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse provided that the Department of Education and Skills will continue to provide for education services to children in the high support, special care and children detention facilities.
