Question 76: To ask the Minister for Finance, further to a freedom of information request (details supplied), if it is standard practice not to retain documentation and early drafts of replies to parliamentary questions within his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is the policy of my Department to retain early drafts of documents where changes to subsequent drafts of the document result in the substantial modification or removal of text from an earlier complete version, or where substantive annotations and comments are written on a copy of a complete or final draft. Early drafts are not retained where the only difference between drafts is in presentation (i.e. layout, grammar, stylistic changes, etc.).
