The Defence Forces spend approximately €10m annually on utilities such as electricity, gas, and heating oil in military installations including barracks and training areas.

In addition approximately €10m is spent on building maintenance. This is part of an ongoing programme designed to ensure that the best possible living, training, operational and accommodation facilities are available to the Defence Forces, both Permanent and Reserve.

I am satisfied that expenditure in these areas represents good value for money.
