I am informed by the Garda authorities that the location referred to is in the Clontarf Sub-District. Local Garda management is not aware of an incident of the type referred to by the Deputy having occurred at the location. I am further informed that a member of the local Community Policing Unit attempted to contact the person referred to concerning such an incident. However, no response was received. Any incidents reported to An Garda Síochána will be fully investigated.

One Sergeant and six Gardaí are attached to the Community Policing Unit in Clontarf Sub-District. These community Gardaí liaise with the local community and business groups in the Sub-District, including in the area referred to.

The area is subject to regular patrols by uniform and plain clothes personnel, Including the Community Policing Unit, the Garda Mountain Bike Unit and the local Detective and Drugs Units, supplemented as required by the Divisional Crime Task Force and Traffic Corps personnel.

Local Garda management closely monitors and keeps under review patrols and other operational strategies in place, in conjunction with crime trends and policing needs of the communities in the area, to ensure optimum use is made of Garda resources and the best possible Garda service is provided to the public.

Current policing strategies are designed to prevent crime, public order offences and anti-social behaviour, and community policing is a central feature and core value of policing policy. This will ensure an environment conducive to the improvement of the quality of life for residents.
