Question 262: To ask the Minister for Transport the number of Government-run canteens operating in Government buildings in his Department and agencies; the number of commercially-run cafes or restaurants that are operating in Government buildings in his Department and agencies; if there is a policy in his Department and agencies to source food locally; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Transport has canteen facilities for staff in three buildings in Dublin. These facilities which are not open to the general public, are operated by private contractors under agreements which do not stipulate where produce is sourced. Canteen arrangements in agencies are a matter for the agencies concerned.
