Question 145: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if she will refer to the waiting list for ear, nose and throat consultant outpatient appointments at Temple Street Hospital, Dublin 1 which are currently of 12 months duration; if she will provide details of delays for appointments at other children's hospitals in Dublin for ENT; the number of ENT consultants working in Temple Street Hospital; if they are currently in work; the reason there is such a delay; the plans she has to improve matters; and if the National Treatment Purchase Fund can be used to improve matters and specifically in the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9. I propose to take Questions Nos. 144 and 145 together.

As indicated to the Deputy in my previous responses, it was not possible to answer the original questions due to industrial action. This industrial action has now ceased and as these are service matters the questions have been referred to the HSE for direct reply.

Subject to the resources made available to it, the National Treatment Purchase Fund arranges treatment for patients who have been on a surgical waiting list for more than three months. It is open to the person in question or anyone acting on their behalf to contact the Fund directly in relation to their case.
