Question 9: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation if, in view of the recent collapse of a major advertising agency and the attendant financial losses to small and medium enterprise dealing with that company, he will ensure that advertising agencies are properly regulated and bonded to protect their clients into the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no functional responsibility in relation to the regulation of advertising agencies and, hence, I have no plans to require that they be bonded.

Advertising agencies, like all companies, are covered by the provisions of the Companies Acts and creditors, including SMEs, can exercise their rights in accordance with those provisions.

If creditors are aware of any breaches of company law, they should refer the matter to the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
