Question 266: To ask the Minister for Social Protection his plans to draw up an amendment to the Civil Registration Act 2004 which would allow Irish people who have died abroad to have their deaths registered here; his views on amending section 39 of this Act to allow this registration in Ireland where families produce the necessary proof of death abroad. It is intended to propose to make a number of amendments to the Civil Registration Act, 2004 and, in this context, I will review the current provisions in relation to the registration in this country of deaths of Irish people which occur outside the State.
