Question 107: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation the number of departmental staff, including political staff and special advisers, who are in receipt of a pension on foot of previous public sector employment; the values of these pensions per employee per annum; the salaries each of these employees is currently paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The information requested by the Deputy is not held by my Department. However, I can confirm that none of my Ministerial appointees are in receipt of a Public Service pension. The Deputy should be aware that Public Service pension entitlements may be carried from one Public Service employment to the next provided the employer is a member of the Public Service Transfer Network. Pensions are generally not payable until retirement age. Where they are being paid prior to retirement age, they will likely be subject to a actuarial reduction except in the case of the Incentivised Scheme of Early Retirement which was available to Civil and Public Servants in 2009.
