Question 263: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Science, further to Parliamentary Question No. 247 of 25 March 2010, if she will refer this Deputy to the relevant section to help this person in view of the fact the person has not been helped since the special education needs organiser stated that they are not involved with the school; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) is responsible, through its network of local Special Educational Needs Organisers (SENOs), for allocating resource teachers and special needs assistants (SNAs) to schools to support children with special educational needs. The NCSE operates within my Department's criteria in allocating such support. Local SENOs are a valuable resource in assisting parents with regard to their child's special educational needs and placement options. I am aware that a Senior SENO is liaising with the parent of the child to whom the Deputy refers in this context.
