Question 69: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the number of work permits being issued has diminished since the recession started; the numbers of permits outstanding; the number newly issued over the past 30 months. [16290/10]

I set out hereunder the number of work permits issued from 2007 to to-date in 2010. It should be noted that the majority of new permits issued over the last 30 months have been in respect of non-EEA nationals already in the State changing employer or spouses of existing employer permit holders. The Employment Permits Section informs me that it currently has approximately 1,700 applications on hands waiting to be processed. Permits Issued 2007 – 2010
