My Department administers the Social Insurance Fund (SIF) in relation to redundancy matters on behalf of the Department of Social and Family Affairs. There are two types of payment made from the SIF – rebates to those employers who have paid statutory redundancy to eligible employees, and statutory lump sums to employees whose employers are insolvent and/or in receivership/liquidation.

I can confirm that my Department received three rebate claims in respect of former employees of the company concerned. I am pleased to advise the Deputy that in relation to two of the three claims, they have recently been processed and authorized for payment. Payment will issue to the employer concerned over the next one to two week period. In relation to the third claim, a query has arisen in relation to eligibility in terms of whether the individual was in insurable employment at the time of termination of the employment. This issue is being pursued with the Department of Social and Family Affairs but the claim cannot be further progressed until this issue is resolved.
