In its 2007 Report, the Company Law Review Group recommended that the ban on auditor incorporation should be lifted and that a statutory cap on their liability should be introduced. The lifting of the ban on auditor incorporation must be addressed as part of the implementation of the Statutory Audits Directive and I expect to sign into law the relevant Regulations in the next few weeks. As regards the statutory cap, I intend conducting a public consultation to get the views from a wider group of stakeholders during the year.
