I can inform the Deputy that, under the terms of the Scheme of Compensation for Personal Injuries Criminally Inflicted, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal is entirely independent in the matter of deciding individual applications to the Tribunal. In this regard, as I am sure the Deputy will appreciate, it would be inappropriate for me to have any involvement with an individual application.
However to be of assistance in the matter, I have had enquiries made with the Tribunal in relation to the application referred to by the Deputy and I understand that the application in question has been the subject of ongoing correspondence between the Applicant's solicitor and the Tribunal. I am informed that the Tribunal will be in contact with the Applicant's solicitor to arrange a hearing as soon as is practicable.
