During the debates on the Harbours (Amendment) Act 2009 I indicated that a review of the Ports Policy Statement would be conducted over the course of this year.

Such a review is timely both in terms of the passage of time since publication of the Policy Statement in 2005 and the current challenges facing the sector.

Work on a consultation document has commenced and I hope to publish the document during the summer.
