Question 350: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the reason she removed cytamen solution from the list of eligible medicines under the general medical services scheme; if her attention has been drawn to the hardship that this has caused to persons with medical cards who are anaemic; her plans to restore the medication to the list or recommend an alternative generic substitute which medical card holders may obtain; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I wish to advise the Deputy that due to industrial action affecting the Health Service Executive it is not possible for the Executive to supply the information requested. If this matter remains of continuing concern to you, however, I would invite you to raise it with me again in due course.
