Question 248: To ask the Minister for Transport the amount of expenditure incurred in the period 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009, by his Department and also offices, agencies and any other bodies falling within his remit, on the lease, rental or purchase of car parking spaces for use by civil and public servants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Costs associated with car parking spaces at Department of Transport premises tend to be integrated into property leasing costs generally, the arrangements for which are made by the Office of Public Works on behalf of the Department. The OPW is thus responsible for the provision of the information sought by the Deputy.
Insofar as the agencies under the aegis of the Department of Transport are concerned, the arrangements for the lease, rental or purchase of car parking spaces are matters to be dealt with directly by the agencies concerned.
