Question 191: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the number of privately run preschool or Montessori facilities in buildings or on lands owned by his Department on which no rent is paid; if this practice exists and if his attention has been drawn to it; the number of tenancy agreements in place between his Department and private preschool providers on which rent is paid and where formal legal arrangements are in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised by my Department that a central list is not maintained of the agreements referred to by the Deputy. This reflects my Department's understanding that such practices do not generally occur on sites under my ownership. My Department is aware of a long standing agreement to allow a Montessori school occupy a portion of a school building in Dublin. It is my Department's intention to formalise the necessary legal arrangements in the coming months.
