Question 118: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if will ensure that the Irish born child residence permit holders rendered temporarily undocumented due to the breakdown in communication between the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service and the Garda National Immigration Bureau are not penalised for this mistake by having this period of time deducted from their reckonable residency for naturalisation purposes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Registrations under the IBC renewal process will not be backdated by the Garda National Immigration Bureau so it is in the interests of all persons renewing permission to ensure that they have no gaps in their residency.
