Question 93: To ask the Minister for Finance the data he has on the distribution of bank liabilities across the different categories of deposit or other instruments; the average interest payment in each, distinguishing current account balances, standard deposits, term deposits and so on in order that an accurate average cost of funds would be calculated for each bank; and if he will provide this data and in particular the aggregate retail banking sector here. While I have no role in relation to the collection of the data referred to by the Deputy, I am informed by the Central Bank that both average retail interest rates for each instrument category and balance sheet data, which set out the different categories of liabilities and assets attributable in aggregate form to credit institutions, is published on an aggregate basis in the Central Bank's Quarterly Bulletin and Monthly Statistics. These publications are available to download on the Central Bank's website, www.centralbank.ie. Data relating to individual institutions is not published. I might add that the calculation of the cost of funds is inherently a matter for each institution based on a number of commercial factors specific to each institution and reflecting general credit market conditions.
