Question 150: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if a person who is the holder of a doctor only medical card is obliged to pay the health levy despite the fact that this person's total income for the year is €16,000; the position regarding the income limit for medical card holders being €15,028 in respect of the implementation of the health levy; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A person in receipt of a medical card does not have to pay the health contribution; this exemption does not apply to those in receipt of a GP Visit Card. However, anyone earning less than €26,000 gross per year is also exempt from paying the health contribution.
