Question 163: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will ascertain from FÁS if the changes announced in the budget 2010 regarding FÁS training allowances apply to course participants that were on training courses prior to the changes being introduced; and if she will make a statement on the matter. FÁS trainee allowances are directly linked to Department of Social and Family Affairs (DSFA) benefits received by those persons who are unemployed. Consequently, any change to the rate of DSFA benefits is also applied to FÁS trainees, including those who may have already been enrolled on a FÁS training course prior to the 2010 Budget adjustments.
