Question 679: To ask the Minister for Education and Science when a school (details supplied) in County Meath will be granted permission to build a new purpose built school; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the local council has zoned the land for education purposes and that the site is ready to be built upon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I wish to advise the Deputy that the Department is in discussions with the agent representing the land owner with a view to acquiring a suitable site for the school in question. In this regard, the Department has recently received a counter proposal on foot of the Department's initial offer to acquire the site which is being considered in the Department. Due to the commercial sensitivities pertaining to the acquisition of school sites generally, it is not possible for me to comment further at this time.
