Question 121: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the number of patients who have had to access or be transferred to facilities outside here over the past five years to secure specialised surgical address of their condition due to the fact that the specialty is not available in this jurisdiction or north of the Border; the specific surgical specialties that have been accessed overseas over the same period due to the fact that they are not provided here; the explorative efforts employed to assess the potential of having some of these specialist services located here based on the potential throughput or take up by patients presenting across the whole country rather than the measurement based on two back to back populations inhabiting the same landmass; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
