Question 582: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if he has considered making an arrangement for an extra date being set aside at the end of the leaving certificate examinations to reschedule any exams that were necessary due to unforeseen circumstances; if there would be a cost saving in rescheduling such exams to a specific date allowing for time for new papers to be printed as against having a second paper printed for each original exam date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The State Examinations Commission has statutory responsibility for operational matters relating to the certificate examinations including organising the holding of examinations and determining procedures in places where examinations are conducted including the supervision of examinations.
