Question 199: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the recruitment process for Garda recruits in respect of the first 400 placed in order of merit following the aptitude test which was sat in 2008 will commence; when such candidates will be called for a medical examination; and when they will commence training. The moratorium on recruitment and promotions in the Public Service applies to the Garda Síochána, both sworn members and civilian support staff. However, I will keep the situation under review in consultation with the Garda Commissioner and my colleague the Minister for Finance.
