In December 2009 the Local Authorities published Draft River Basin Management Plans for each of the River Basin Districts. These draft plans were open to public consultation for a period of six months up to June 2009 and over 300 submissions from interested parties were received. Work is continuing on the finalisation of the plans, including addressing issues raised through the public consultation. A National Advisory Committee has been established to coordinate this work across each of the River Basin Districts and to oversee the subsequent implementation of the plans. I expect that the process of finalising the plans will be completed in the coming months.
