Question 231: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding primary school teachers who have secured their qualification from outside the jurisdiction and who have to undertake an Irish language examination; when application forms for this examination will be available from a college (details supplied) in Dublin 3 which has indicated that they are awaiting a circular from his Department on this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Adjustments to the arrangements for meeting the Irish language requirements for teachers trained outside the jurisdiction has involved a transfer of responsibilities to the Teaching Council and revised arrangements with the college. I understand that the Teaching Council has been in contact with the college and that the forms will issue shortly.
