Question 61: To ask the Minister for Finance the cost of the acquisition of the site outside Killarney, County Kerry, which was purchased for the decentralisation of the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism; the person from whom this site was purchased; if the purchase of this site followed best practice; if the purchase price of the land was consistent with the prices of land in the surrounding area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The cost of the site in question was €4.5 million. It was purchased from Killarney Town Council. I am advised that by the Commissioners of Public Works that the purchase followed best practice. The price was consistent with the price of land in the area at the time of the transaction.
