Question 31: To ask the Minister for Transport his views on the recent reforms announced by the Commission on Taxi Regulation; his plans to incentivise the purchase of wheelchair accessible taxis in the industry in view of the current economic prospects in the taxi sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The regulation of the taxi industry is, in accordance with the Taxi Regulation Act 2003, a matter for the Commissioner on Taxi Regulation and the Minister for Transport has no role in relation thereto.

Proposals from the Commission to provide funding towards the upgrading of the wheelchair accessible fleet are under consideration in my Department.
