I propose to take Questions Nos. 129 and 130 together.

The Garda Síochána Act 2005 makes provision for the compilation and publication of crime statistics by the Central Statistics Office, as the national statistical agency, and the CSO has established a dedicated unit for this purpose. I have requested the CSO to provide the statistics sought by the Deputy directly to him.

Question 131: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of convictions in each of the years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and to date in 2009 for offences under Section 1 of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 1935, Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 1935, Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2006, Section 3 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2006, Section 14 of Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 1935 and Section 2 (2) (i) of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990 (as amended by section 37 of the Sex Offenders Act, 2001 in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
